Biography
Morrisania Band Project (also known as MBP) is an award-winning R&B soul collective founded in September 2016. Their mission is to add vibrancy to the Bronx through music, community engagement, and social initiatives. With creative energy and loads of talent, MBP delivers the sounds of legendary soul, pop, and funk artists, while promoting awareness for issues like gun violence and adult literacy.
Founder, Elissa Carmona is a singer, Air Force veteran, and winner of the 2019 Arts Fund and 2018 Artist for Community awards. MBP presented the 2018 Unity Park Concert Series, a five-concert series at Rev. Lena Irons Unity Park from June 30th through October 6th. They’ve performed at numerous events hosted by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. and Council Member Vanessa Gibson. In 2019, MBP headlined at Summer on the Hudson’s Mamapalooza on May 26th, Queens Night Market on June 15th, and Lehman College on June 21st.
