Biography
Jason Stotz is a lifelong musician and performer who brings a vibrant, one-of-a-kind solo act to every stage. Performing as iSteelMusic, Jason blends the classic sound of the steel pan with modern looping technology to create lush, layered performances that feel like a full band, but with the intimate presence of a solo artist.
Now in just his third season as a one-man band, Jason is on track to complete nearly 100 gigs this year, all booked through independent outreach and word of mouth. His performances have lit up country clubs, cocktail lounges, wedding ceremonies, and festival stages across the greater Rochester area.
Jason’s musical roots run deep: he began playing steel pan at age 10 alongside his father, a longtime member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. At 12, he opened for Santana; at 15, he performed a calypso concerto with the RPO. During COVID, his steel pan cover of The Office theme was featured on John Krasinski’s "Some Good News", introducing his music to a global audience.
Before launching his solo music project, Jason toured internationally as both a dancer and rehearsal director with the theatrical shadow dance group Catapult Entertainment (America’s Got Talent, Season 8). That stage experience shaped his polished, engaging performance style. Today, he brings that same energy and artistry to every live set.
