Akhtar Jan is a professional flutist and bagpipe player now based in the UAE.

He has a strong desire to perform all pieces of music specially piper to the best of his abilities and achieve that aspiration through carefully planned practice sessions and a constant dedication to excellence.

Akhtar has been performing with Aga khan Silver Jubilee Band Gulmit as a Band Piper from Jan 1990 to April 2019

Responsibilities:
- Participation in a regional musical band that promotes Scottish music and culture,
- Provide musical education and appreciation of great highland bagpiping and drumming by
- Creating educational opportunities for persons of all ages to learn to play bagpipes or drums in a disciplined and tutored environment.
- Guide and support those band members wishing to further their musical education,
- Entertain and represent local communities at civic events
