Presentation and Biography – A.Paula.Índia A.Paula.Índia – Singer, Composer, Percussionist and Performer Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, into a family of musicians, A.Paula.Índia began her artistic journey at the age of nine, combining academic studies with dance, music theory, and harmony classes at the National Conservatory of Music of Rio de Janeiro. Her early career included musicals, festivals, and television productions in Brazil, before launching an international path in 1985, performing across Africa, France, Portugal, Japan, Norway, and Denmark. In 1990, she settled in Spain, where she founded her own band and began creating original compositions, developing a style that merges the authenticity of Brazilian music with contemporary sounds and world rhythms — Bossa Nova, Funk, Afoxé, Reggae, Jazz, and more. Her career has taken her to stages throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia, participating in festivals, TV programs, and cross-cultural collaborations. In 2019, a trip to Sri Lanka turned into a profound connection with the island and its people, leading her to establish residence there and create intercultural projects with local musicians. Currently, between Sri Lanka and Spain, she continues to expand her musical vision, blending Afrobeats, jazz fusion, and Brazilian roots into a borderless artistic narrative. Recently, she was selected to participate in the 360 Music Deal at Firdaus Studio in Dubai, an experience that revealed the immense richness of cultural fusion possible within the United Arab Emirates. Inspired by this experience, A.Paula.Índia expresses her wish to continue developing her artistic journey in the Emirates — a profoundly cultural and diverse country — where she finds the perfect environment to keep building musical and human bridges between cultures. Her work combines interpretation, composition, and artistic direction, exploring the bridges between traditions and the connections that arise from human and musical exchange. Each performance is a celebration of diversity and of music as a universal language.
